San Gimignano is perhaps the best known little town in Tuscany. Nicknamed “Town of fine towers”, and also the “Manhattan of the Middle Ages”, it is famous for its medieval towers, very well preserved. We will walk along the main street “Francingena”, admire the frescoes in the courtyard of the Town Hall and in St Augustine church and take a look at some well-hidden longobard fountains. Last, but not least, we will taste one of the best white wines in Tuscany, Vernaccia, or the red Chianti wine, in the “Rocca” (the ancient Fort); and those of you who appreciate such things will be delighted to find out that San Gimignano is also home to the most reliable ice-cream parlour in the area, Dondoli!
